Fuel Bladder Surge Tanks (FBET)
Young Engineering Bladder Surge Tanks (BST) absorb and control dangerous surge energies created by backflows in pumping when a pump stops or during sudden pressure changes. These events can create stress in vulnerable components of piping systems and decrease systems component life cycle. Our tanks contain an internal gas-filled bladder connected to fuel pumping systems that allow pipeline liquids to ebb and flow into the tank to stabilize pressure in the rest of the system.
Large-capacity Bladder Surge Tanks are used fuel pipeline applications for crude oil, refined fuel, or other petrochemical operations. Standard sizes range from 40 to 20,000 gallons with design pressures of 275 and 500 psi (and higher if needed). Our fuel industry bladder surge tanks include supports built to UBC seismic standards. Products are designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with ASME and most are available with UL and FM approval. Horizontal and vertical bladder surge tank models are available. Young Engineering’s bladder surge tanks incorporate patented floor-plates and nozzle assemblies that accommodate greater liquid flow and maximize bladder performance while maintaining the highest dependability.
We also offer a wide selection of optional features for fuel industry bladder surge tanks including pre-installing ladders and platforms; and stainless steel fittings and bladder elastomers designed to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations.
While bladderless surge tanks need air compressors to regulate internal tank pressure, our Bladder Surge Tanks are self-contained units. Not only can external air compressors be noisy, they require additional maintenance, regulating equipment, and electrical power, resulting in higher operating costs.
We have several fuel handling industry installations across the country. You can click here to request an INDUSTRY REFERENCE LIST.
